Why choose Netizen for training?

It's often hard to distinguish between training organisations or assessthe quality of a course before you decide to attend. Here are a fewpoints that might help to convince you that Netizen's training is worthyour time and money.

Read what people have said about ourcourses

We know what we're talking about

This might seem to be stating the obvious, but Netizen's courses are ontopics that form our core business. We don't try to teach you things wedon't understand ourselves, or that we don't use every day in our ownbusiness. We've had years of experience, and we do know whatwe're talking about.

Many other training courses are run by people who've attended a "trainthe trainer" course, or who've read a book on the topic and taughtthemselves enough to almost-but-not-quite get away with it. We've beenon these courses, and we can't help wondering how the instructors canlive with their mediocrity.

If you take a look at our web site you'll see what we'retalking about; we practice what we preach.

We teach you how to help yourself

You've heard the saying: "Give a man a fish, and he'll eat for a day;teach him how to fish and he'll eat forever". That more or less sums upour philosophy.

We'd much rather give you the fundamentals you need and then teachyou how to learn more. All our courses include information onwhere to find further reference material or examples, how to get help onthe topic, and how to figure things out for yourself. We also recommendbooks which give the best possible information on the topic, and ofteninclude these books as a "required text" for the course so you're sureto have a copy afterwards.

We know how to communicate

You'd think we wouldn't need to say this, but you'd be amazed at some ofthe really average instructors we've seen. Netizen's instructors speakplain English instead of techno-babble; we provide clear, detailedcourse notes; we positively delight in answering questions andexplaining difficult concepts. Lastly, our class sizes are small enoughthat every trainee will get personal attention.

We raise difficult issues

We see our job as giving a rounded view of a topic. If there aresecurity issues, incompatibilities or other "gotchas", we don't justgloss over them.

On a slightly different note, we also try to teach you whyyou're doing something a certain way, and why it's the Right Way.There's too many wrong ways to do things, and we'd rather not perpetuatethem -- we wouldn't want you to blame us for them afterwards.

We do follow-up

Our post-trainingresources are, as far as we know, unique. When you complete aNetizen training course, you'll have access to a wealth of follow-upinformation, a mailing list to talk to your fellow trainees, and adirect line to our trainers.

If you come out of the course and you're not quite sure you understand something, we'll answer your email when you ask us for help. And if weinspire you so much that you decide to put your new-found knowledge towork, we can provide all kinds of support and services to get youstarted and keep you going.
